RUGBY REPORT for 2016

The season kicked off with the annual pre-season Dairiboard Rugby Festival held at Prince Edward School towards the end of the April holiday.  In spite of a week-long camp and hiring a young and energetic coach, the team failed to match the success stories of the previous seasons as they lost all their three games against Goromonzi High School, Bernard Mzeki College and Kutama College.

Despite being at the wrong end of the results, the team put up a spirited campaign which produced some awesome individual displays culminating in Tauya Tinashe being crowned man-of-the-match against Bernard Mzeki College.

The unlucky streak persisted in the league season in which the College managed to win only twice against lightweights Morgan High and Oriel Boys High and losing against Vainona, St. Johns Emerald Hill, Kutama and Marondera High.  Perhaps the only notable positive result to be drawn from the season is the concentration on the junior teams.  Both the under 14’s and 16’s were quite active during the season and got some competitive game time, indeed the future looks bright for them.

The rugby team wishes to express sincere gratitude to the school administration for making it possible for the teams to fulfill their fixtures.
